Gender-neutral restrooms coming to University of Houston campus
HOUSTON — The University of Houston-Downtown will soon have gender-neutral restroom facilities after the school’s student government passed the proposal Friday.
The student government said it was their chance to weigh in on an idea that had already been approved by the faculty.
Six of the restrooms on campus will become gender neutral with male-female symbols posted outside. Some students say it will make students of any gender identity or sexual orientation feel welcome.
