Pro-LGBT Republican Senate President Mitch Carmichael Chooses Pro-Choice, Anti-Religious Freedom Senator Tom Takubo for New Majority Leader

Pro-LGBT Republican Senate President Mitch Carmichael Chooses Pro-Choice, Anti-Religious Freedom Senator Tom Takubo for New Majority Leader.

Senator Takubo has one of the worst records on pro-life votes in his four years in the West Virginia senate. Takubo also voted to allow homosexual behavior to trump the First Amendment right of religious expression in cases where “gay” activists sue private businesses.

Carmichael, has held onto his seat in the senate in large part because he has consistently received the endorsement of West Virginians for Life. Now his pro-choice pick for his majority leader in the senate will not be received well among the state’s pro-life advocates.

Another disappointment in Carmichael’s decision making, but we have come to expect these poor choices.

Carmichael is expected to have a powerful conservative primary challenger in his race for re-election in the fall of 2020 and the Family Policy Council will endorse whoever that candidate is.
