ACTION ALERT: KCBOE

UPDATE: KCBOE WITHDRAWS BAD POLICY

The Kanawha County Board of Education (KCBOE) voted unanimously to withdraw a proposal that would have added sexual orientation” to its policies on employment and cultural diversity. Instead, the KCBOE inserted language that would simply require the Kanawha County Schools policies remain in keeping with local, state, and federal laws.

We thank the KCBOE for listening to the parents, students, and educators of the Kanawha Valley. And, we urge you to do likewise. Same-sex advocates often resort to threats and intimidation, bullying public servants into submitting to their agenda. The KCBOE is a public service and those on it deserve our thanks when they listen to those they represent.

Please use the email list below to email a quick word of thanks to the members of the KCBOE.

The Kanawha County Board of Education (KCBOE) is taking steps to add "sexual orientation" to its policy on cultural diversity.  The proposed policy would require those employed by Kanawha County Schools to undergo required "cultural diversity training" prior to receiving their first pay check.

With this proposal, the KCBOE has threatened to hold the paychecks of its teachers hostage and force its employees to complete diversity training that endorses homosexual behavior between minors.  It uconstitutionally penalizes teachers for simply abiding by their convictions.

Here is how you can help:
All comments from the public must be received by the KCBOE on or before July 1, 2009.

Forcing teachers to participate in sexual orientation indoctrination - even if the teacher believe that it violates his or her deeply held religious convictions - is unconstitutional.  Under this policy, teachers:

  • Will not be able to respond to students who have unwanted feelings of same-sex attraction and are being bullied for wanting to embrace their heterosexuality,
  • Must learn about how to be sensitive to students who believe they must engage in anal, oral, or manual sex with members of their own gender just to fit in with their peers,
  • Will be required to encourage boys to pretend to be girls, and
  • Must remain silent when bisexual faculty are given alone time with children.
The KCBOE should concentrate on improving reading, writing, and arithmetic instead of promoting behavior that is unhealthy, unwise, and disregards the moral fabric of the family.
